Features

Five 75-watt-per-channel amplifiers with high-performance digital power supply

The AVR 1510 high-performance, audio/video receiver pumps out 75 watts per channel to power a full 5.1-channel surround sound system. It can also connect to powered subwoofers to provide enhanced low-frequency performance for your music, movies, HDTV shows, sports and video games. While the amplifier retains the time-tested Harman Kardon high-current-capacity (HCC), ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier design to ensure the most accurate, dynamic sound with enhanced clarity and realism, even at the highest listening levels, a digitally based power supply gives the amplifier all the muscle it needs without the weight of traditional power-supply designs and their heavy transformers. The net result is a great-sounding product in a smaller form factor that is friendly to the environment.

DLNA 1.5 network connectivity

The AVR 151 is DLNA 1.5 compliant, which gives you the option to deliver audio/video content over your home network via of compliant devices, such as smartphones, tablets and personal computers.

Built-in vTuner Internet radio

The AVR 1510 features vTuner Internet radio to connect you to a whole world of online audio entertainment. As soon as it’s out of the box, you can stream over-the-air radio stations from around the globe as well as stream from a wide range of Internet-only radio stations.

Four 3D-ready HDMI inputs

Four HDMI inputs with 3D and 30/36-bit Deep Color deliver high-definition digital video at resolutions up to 1080p with full-fidelity audio through a single cable. There is no loss of video or audio quality because of format conversion, just full-impact Hollywood excitement as its creators meant you to experience it. And because the AVR features 4K pass-through, your low-resolution videos will be upscaled to present you with the highest possible picture quality for your HDTV.

Front-panel USB port for connection to Apple products or USB sticks

The AVR 1510 gives you multiple options for audio playback with its front-panel USB port. Simply connect an iPhone, iPad or USB stick to play your stored tracks through your home entertainment system. The integrated USB port charges your iOS devices, too.

Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding

The AVR 1510 delivers high-resolution audio that matches the digital video quality of Blu-ray Disc™ formats, unlocking the full potential of movie soundtracks formatted with Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ coding. No matter what mode or mood you are in, you’ll always hear audio playback at its finest

HARMAN GreenEdge certification

The HARMAN GreenEdge logo assures you that the AVR 1510’s design is environmentally friendly without compromising the premium performance for which HARMAN products are known. Thanks to an advanced power supply, the AVR 1510 can deliver high-quality audio in a small, light chassis that uses less metal and plastic. The small design means that less fuel is used in transportation, with the end result being a lower carbon footprint.

New, compact design

The AVR 1510 takes the award-winning Harman Kardon design look to a new level with a flush volume control and more compact design. Thanks to the light weight made possible by an advanced digital power supply, the unit weighs less without sacrificing performance so that it is the perfect match for the thin glass shelves of today’s open TV/entertainment furniture.

Color-coded connectors and speaker terminals

All connections on the AVR 1510 are color-coded to simplify hookup and reduce errors. What could be easier?

Multidevice, programmable remote control

The AVR 1510 simplifies your life with a programmable, infrared (IR) remote control. Its design works seamlessly with the receiver’s multilingual on-screen display, guiding you through system setup and operation with consummate ease. The multidevice remote can also control your TV, cable boxes, satellite tuners and other playback sources. For further installation flexibility, there is a 12-volt trigger output and a remote IR sensor input.

AVR 1510 is rated 4.3636 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, it's an impressive receiver With the assistance of the full owners manual, available only on-line, all available features are explained and this receiver includes much more than I expected in a very affordable package. I purchased this for a replacement to an older Bose Lifestyle system and I did not want to spend a fortune for a system that is used mainly for daily television viewing and an occasional movie. The Harmon Kardon AVR-1510 has plenty of power and is loaded with lots of features. From the network connection to the multiple HDMI inputs it checks all of the boxes I had listed on my want list. The receiver is also very good as I live in a rural area close to one radio transmitter that usually ove rides all other stations. With this receiver, I am able to receive many stations with the included wire antenna. The included remote control is good, but my Harmony is still the main controller. A couple of drawbacks with the remote include the list of codes supplied for other devices are not listed or are incorrect. The search function built into the remote did locate the correct code for my all of my devices. Another drawback is no lighted keypad as the small buttons are hard to read in good light and the instructions in the manual on setting up the remote are a little confusing. For the money, it is hard to beat as it has so much more than more expensive receivers I have purchased over the years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Single source for supreme control HDMI inputs for everything: DirecTV, Roku, BluRay player, XBox. Sound out to JBL sub + satellites = AWESOME. (Playing Beatles Rock Band is now semi-religious!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this purchase ! I just got mine about three weeks ago. I was upgrading from an HK AVR 146 to a newer, more powerful model, so I already knew what to expect in most cases. I was especially pleased that connecting speakers was made somewhat easier on the 1510. [The binding posts on the 146 were too close together for my large hands and fingers, mostly because of the very large number of inputs and outputs that had to be crammed into a relatively small space.] Once the speakers were in, the other connections were a breeze : 3 HDMI & 1 network cable in; one HDMI out -- nothing else needed. Setting up the system was easy, even though this model offers many more possible adjustments [NOTE : a certain reviewer complained that there were NO tone controls. REPLY : It is not HK's fault that you apparently didn't bother to read the manual. Present digital technology has obviated the need for large knobs on the faceplate of a unit marked BASS & TREBLE. The 1510's tone controls are in the SOURCE SETUP menu and offer the opportunity to tailor the bass & treble levels for each Source INDIVIDUALLY] The performance is everything I came to enjoy about my AVR 146, and much more. The sound through my JBL speakers and Polk Audio sub is excellent, and the volume is more than adequate for my modest-sized living room. I actually have little use for most of the 1510's network capabilities, but the vTuner for streaming network radio is a joy. Stations only 20 or 30 miles away were usually unlistenable, due to the fact that I live in a steel, concrete and brick apartment building which by its nature blocks out all but the strongest local signals. Now I can listen to radio from around the world with only an occasional intrusion of network dropouts. I am also very pleased that I can now play my collection of SACDs with digital signals sent through an HDMI cable from my Pioneer BluRay player, rather than through three pairs of analog audio cables and RCA jacks between the older AVR 146 and a SONY DVD player. My only complaint [a minor one that's common to most modern equipment] is that the remote isn't very user friendly [which explains the four stars for the Ease of Use rating]. Truthfully, there's not much any manufacturer can do about that. The current trend towards smart phone/tablet control apps seems to offer a brighter future. SUMMARY : I expected that I would really like this unit... and I do !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great decision. Very happy. Met all my needs. iPod line connection, 5.1 surround. 75w is more than plenty of power per speaker. Plenty of HDMI ports. Priced right. Lighted and glowing volume dial is kind of cool. Radio tuner built in too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I bought this item recently an simply love the features. The product was very easy to set up and has excellent sound quality and great features. I use Infinity floor standing speakers and they sound great. Both my iPhones (5 & 3GS) works. I am yet to explore other features, but am sure Harman Kardon will not disappoint me on those either. The only issue was I found it a little hard to push the speaker wires (10 AWG) into speaker connectors...., should have used a thinner speaker wire....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love my Harman Kardon AVR 1510 I disagree...My AVR 1510 does everything I can wish for and more than accommodates my 200 inch, professional quality home theater. It works seamlessly with my xbmc based windows media center. I use one remote to access everything...my Android. This receiver is one of my best tech toys I own and it didn't cost too much either. Thank you Harman Kardon...You exceeded my expectations -Albert

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good first impression I bought and installed the receiver yesterday to replace my AVR125. Pros: HDMI connectivity (works and is easy); The setup and configuration of speakers; VERY lightweight; Looks good, sounds good; lots of preconfigured sound algorithms available; factoring in price around $300 gives it excellent value; a little bit MORE POWER to the speakers. All other things remaining the same with my setup, I'm listening at about 5db - 10db less than my old receiver. Cons: Spring clip connections for centre and rear speakers seem cheap - had a little bit of trouble with 16ga wire fitting; no manual eq.; remote control could be better designed (similar style buttons and plain layout make it tricky to find common functions) Indifferent: The HK AVR1510 sound seems to be brighter, clearer, sharper (colder?) than my old AVR 125 (warmer?). Still playing with crossover frequencies to adjust front speakers/sub; crossover frequencies set at 20Hz intervals - my speaker range landed right in the middle, so there is overlap of front/sub frequencies - which needs time for listening and adjusting. Overall - Great value receiver. Easy setup. Nice crisp sound. Not made for the user who likes to tweak/tinker with all sorts of manual settings. But there are a lot of pre configured functions and built-in features (auto detect sound, etc) that make it very user friendly.
