Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small form factor and a great output How can I establish a wired connection with my desktop to use Microphone as well as speakers both? I am using ASUS X99 Deluxe motherboard and it has several connection options and that's confusing me a little bit. I read in some answers below it's recommended to use 3.5mm jack with 3 rings(aka TRSS or 4 pole cable). Does the cable on the PC end need to have a splitter, so that it can go in the line-in and mic-in ports of the motherboard(ASUS X99 deluxe)? If possible please provide a full description or the name of the cable. Thanks!

I was surprised (pleasantly) that the sound quality was crystal clear and the bass was deep even if it had no baffles. Cons: no carrying case No charger, only cable included. Excellent purchase.

Can I get sound through the USB from my computer? In other words can I connect with just a USB on a Mac and use this device or do I also need a second 3.5mm headphone jack wire?

Asked by: Business User
The USB port on the ESQUIRE 2 is only used for charging other mobile devices and cannot be used to stream audio from any source. If you would like to use the speaker with your computer, you would need to use a 3.5mm AUX cable or if your computer is capable of audio streaming via Bluetooth then you can connect the speaker via Bluetooth as well.

How about a hardwired connection with desktop PC for audio calls. Noted that recommended aux cable with 3 rings on it. My desktop has ASUS X99 Deluxe motherboard with several audio input. Which to use, Line-in, Mic-in or Line-out? or a splitter?

Asked by: Anon
The ESQUIRE 2 can be connected to your PC's line-out using a 3.5mm audio cable. Assuming you're using it for Skype, go to the settings on the app and set the the ESQUIRE 2 for the Microphone, Speakers, and Ringing drop-down lists and you're all set.

Can this play music while it's charging? For example, can I leave the speaker constantly plugged in charging and have it play music?

Asked by: ay7856
There is no harm in leaving the ESQUIRE plugged in at all times, and then disconnecting to use in a portable application, when needed. This won't ruin the battery life in anyway because when it is fully charged, it will run directly off the electricity.

I couldn't find what kind of connector you build between usb and micro usb, can I connect with wires audio to computer (speaker and mic).. I bought it for conference calls, but audience from other side complain to echo, can I do something about it.

Asked by: Gligor
The USB port does not transmit or is not designed to handle audio streaming. With that said if you want to use the speaker hardwired during conference calls on your computer, you would need to use a 3.5mm aux cable which has three bands on the connector as that would support mic functionality. Normal 3.5mm aux cables only have 2 bands which can only support stereo audio transmission.

My Esquire 2 keeps cutting out at exactly 10 minutes during Skype calls over Bluetooth on a SurfacePro 3 running Win10. I've looked everywhere (device config, Skype, Bluetooth, etc.) for a setting that would drive this problem but cannot find one... help.

Asked by: GavinT
Try adjusting the volume on the source or the speaker, vice versa. The speaker should be able to adjust to low volume quite fine when paired/used with any device and any streaming service. If the speaker shuts off or goes into standby after a few minutes, that just means that the volume on the source is too low and you would need to crank it up and adjust the volume on the speaker.

I'm trying to connect to my laptop's audio/mic auxiliary jack for internet teleconferencing. While I can hear the other party, they can't hear me. What do I need?

Asked by: CAL10
This would depend on the software or the cable that you are using. Some laptops/desktops have an audio port with integrated mic input, if the cable that you are using only has two rings on the connector, that wouldn't work as the cable is only capable of transmitting left and right audio. If the cable that you will be using has three rings, the third ring is in fact for mic capability and that is the cable that you would need. Next, you would need to check if the software that you will be using for conferencing(i.e skyoe, etc...) detects the speaker as mic capable. If all those components are available or is checked then your speakers mic should work with VoIp conferencing. Or you can just connect the speaker via Bluetooth, then the mic can be used for conferencing right away.

How can I connect this device to my lalptop?

Asked by: dasss
You can connect the speaker either via Bluetooth or hardwired connection. If you connect the speaker via Bluetooth, make sure that your computer is A2DP compatible and that it is up to date. A2DP pertains to the ability of the computer to transmit audio wirelessly. If you are connecting the speaker via hardwired connection, you will need a 3.5mm aux cable. Connect the speaker to the headphone port of your computer.
