The purist MINI Roadster combines the brand’s hallmark go-kart feeling with an unfiltered open-air nature experience. The lightweight fabric top conforms to the well-proven British sports car tradition and is quick to fold down. The absence of a rear bench makes for generous space up front and plenty of legroom. With 240 liters of trunk capacity, there is ample luggage room to accommodate the leisure pursuits of an active couple.

The tailor-made Harman Kardon® audio system heightens the pleasure of the trip with its unparalleled music reproduction, making the experience one of perfection for all the senses. Ten optimally positioned speakers deliver a compelling sound experience to both driver and passenger in the dynamic two-seater. The highly efficient 480-watt DSP amplifier featuring class-D technology fulfils all expectations of refined performance and guarantees perfect sound – and not just for the rock ‘n’ roll on wheels along winding country roads.
Distinctive features of the MINI Roadster include the windshield, which lies flatter to the tune of 13 degrees, the waistline rising toward the rear and the flat run-out of the back end with its clearly offset trunk. It also sits 20 millimeters lower than the open-top four-seater. This meant lots of fine tuning for the Harman Kardon® acoustic experts in order to adjust the sound system for the special conditions of the MINI Roadster. They also had to take into account the thinner soft-top and the fundamentally more dynamic setup with the powerful Cooper engines (starting at 122 hp) and the optional sports suspension. A diesel power unit is also available, which sees MINI entering new territory in this class with the Roadster.
It was for this reason that the Harman Kardon® acoustic specialists developed a dedicated sound system for the MINI Roadster that always guarantees spatial, dynamic sound and a powerful bass foundation, whether the top is open or closed, the engine gasoline or diesel or the suspension series or sports.
Ten precisely positioned high-performance speakers deliver amazing listening pleasure. Two 26 mm metal matrix tweeters in the A-pillars at the front and two 26 mm metal matrix tweeters behind the occupants ensure an impression of three-dimensional sound. The two innovative ALumaprene membranes of the midrange speakers in the doors display outstanding damping characteristics, thus delivering incredibly even frequency response.
A further characteristic of the membrane materials is the carefully balanced relationship between stiffness and weight.
Furthermore, the Harman Kardon® acoustic specialists have integrated two woofers into the front door panels, for dynamic reproduction of even deep bass lines. Two mid-bass speakers in the rear bulkhead also deliver impressive bass tone reproduction. The tweeters that are likewise built into the rear bulkhead add to the spatial balance of the overall sound experience.
The ten speakers in the MINI Roadster are driven by a powerful and highly efficient DSP amplifier with 480-watt total output, which is installed beneath the driver’s seat to save space.
