Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multi channel sound and amazing 2 channel So I got this a week ago, I think I can give a basis on what this receiver is good at and what it lacks.... I love the detail and clarity. It’s very Mid based on the audio spectrum. The mid range in this system is magical. There is a difference between audiophile sound and studio sound. This receiver by no means is studio related. But it does to direct format from sources like Dolby and dts. Up to 7.2 channels. Don’t worry if you don’t have a subwoofer. This receiver has a tone of bass. But it’s not up front Bass. Picture and 70/80’s cabinet speaker. As of Bass it goes very low and sound very nice, and there is little distortion. I am using klipsch reference speaker. So it might be different depending on your speakers.... You won’t be disappointed. I was smart and bought this refurbished for 220$ so for me this is a even better deal but even for 550$ this is a good deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loaded with Features, Fantastic Sound Quality Got Home from work today and found this on my front porch set up was a breeze took all but 20 minutes and then spent the next hour or so tweaking very easy to learn basics no need for manual maybe later this weekend when I configure it on my network but for now was eager to get it up and running so I could relax with some music (for now I've been streaming progressive rock (Emerson Lake & Palmer and ...) From an iPhone through a Klipsch 5.1 Speaker setup via bluetooth using the Surround Neo:6 for music setting on the receiver and I can't tell you how pleased I am with the Sound reproduction I'm hearing just out of the box with a little manual tweaking very impressive and can't wait to spend the time this weekend configuring the network, set up AirPlay and calibrating the room to get the full potential out of this receiver. A definite Best Choice for the technology packed full featured little powerhouse this is and what makes it is the very reasonable cost to feature to quality ratio.

Set my 1710s to assigned amp zone 2 to play audio in a separate room. When I use Airplay from my I-phone in main zone and want to hear Airplay in zone 2 simultaneously, I can't find the Airplay option in menu for zone 2. Bluetooth yes, Airplay, no.

Zone 2 is strictly for analog audio sources. Airplay uses digital signal and this will not allow you to play on your zone 2 speakers. Only one of the AVR&rsquo;s internal sources (iPod, USB, vTuner, Network, AirPlay, DLNA DMR) can be active at a time across both zones. For example, if you are listening to vTuner as the source in Zone 1 and switch the source in Zone 2 to USB, it will switch the source in Zone 1 to USB(and vice versa). To listen to different sources in Zone 1 and Zone 2 at the same time, at least one source must be one of the AVR&rsquo;s configurable external sources (Cable/Sat, Disc, STB or TV) that is connected to one of the AVR&rsquo;s analog audio inputs, or one of the AVR&rsquo;s terrestrial radio sources (FM or AM). Furthermore, if you want to play 1 source to both zones, you should set the zone 2 speakers back to surround sound speakers. Then, set the surround mode to 7 channel stereo. This will allow you to output sound to all of the speaker.

All I want to do is connect 4 polk audio atrium 55s around my pool and 2 polk T15s inside the pool house. How do I program for outside to play properly for CD or satellite radio.? Inside pool house is zone 2 After initial setup I only get sound from 2 s

Why would my display stop working? Sound will only go through tv now and the display goes into standby (Amber mode) right away

What is the reason that the AVR171S should be plugged into a switch less plug point? In my house all plug points are with switches. So do I have to change the required plug outlet? Also should it be 13amp or 15amp plug base?
